Random Walks in the Low Countries
Reflections and observations on the expatriate experience from an American scientist living and working in the Netherlands.
It’s finally a beautiful and sunny day in Cambridge, not unlike the one captured in this painting created by Turner in 1793. Now, as then, summer was an occasion for walking, punting, flirting, and drinking along the grassy banks and in the cool waters.
I wanted to try some wider pictures around Maastricht and the countryside, the one above is from my window over Kesselskade and the Mas river.
I feel like the results were a bit mixed, but they do give a nice idea of what Limburg looks like on a gloriously sunny day!
